MGR centenary celebrations on November 22
Security arrangements have been geared up in Thoothukudi ahead of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswamy’s visit here on November 22 for the centenary celebrations of late Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran.
The programme is scheduled to be held on the premises of Government Industrial Training Institute at Korampallam. The party cadres were jubilant anticipating the arrival of the Chief Minister, and banners welcoming him were put up at several locations in the town here.
Information Minister Kadambur C. Raju said around 30,000 beneficiaries would be provided with welfare scheme assistance and the Chief Minister would inaugurate 50 development projects.
According to a statement from the District Police Office here on Monday, basic facilities would be made available for the beneficiaries and visitors at the programme and they should not bring water bottles, plastic cups and bags to the venue.
Vehicles should be parked at the earmarked parking lots. Vehicles from Srivaikuntam, Sathankulam, Nazareth, Alwarthirunagari and Udangudi should travel either via Seidunganallur and Vagaikulam or Pudukottai to reach Thoothukudi-Palayamkottai highway road and park at a place on Ayyanadaippu road beside Korampallam.
As for vehicles coming through Madurai-Thoothukudi highway, they could be parked at Sorispuram in Thoothukudi. Vehicles from Thoothukudi town and Tiruchendur should go through FCI godown roundabout, Madathur post and park at Sorispuram.
Heavy vehicles from Tirunelveli would be allowed through Thattaparai, Puthiyamputhur and Pudur Pandiapuram. Tirunelveli bound heavy vehicles should travel through Tiruchendur road, Pottalkadu, Kulayankarisal, Kootampuli and Pudukottai. The VOC Port bound heavy vehicles from Tiruchendur would be allowed through Muthaiyapuram –Harbour link road, the statement added.
